Privacy Policy

Animatoa (“we”, “us”) is a browser-based motion showcase tool operated by zeppelin.works. This page explains what we actually collect, what we deliberately never touch, and why — in plain language, not legal filler.

The short version

• Your photos, videos, and projects are processed entirely on your own device. We never see them.
• We collect an email address (and optionally a name) to run your account — nothing more.
• Analytics (PostHog) only run if you accept them in the cookie banner — you can change your mind any time.
• Payment details are handled entirely by Dodo Payments. We never see your card number.

What we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we store your email address, an optional display name and avatar, and (if you use Google sign-in) the basic profile info Google shares with us. This is handled by our authentication provider, Supabase.

Usage analytics — only with your consent. We use PostHog to understand which parts of the app get used, so we can improve them. This is off by default and only starts once you accept analytics cookies in the banner. We explicitly configure it to never record your canvas — the live preview of your project is never captured, screenshotted, or uploaded as part of analytics, ever.

Payment information. If you upgrade to Pro, billing is handled entirely by Dodo Payments. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and your subscription status — we never receive or store your card details.

What we never collect

Every template render, every export, happens locally in your browser using WebGL and WebCodecs — your photos, videos, and finished exports never leave your device unless you explicitly choose to. This is the whole point of how Animatoa is built, not a policy we could quietly change.

Cloud sync (optional)

If you sign in and choose to sync a project to the cloud, that project's data and the images in it are uploaded to our storage provider (Supabase Storage), scoped privately to your account or team workspace. This only happens when you explicitly press “Sync to cloud” — it is never automatic, and your local autosave keeps working independently either way.

Cookies

We use two kinds of cookies. Necessary cookies keep you signed in and are required for accounts to work at all — these can't be turned off without breaking sign-in. Analytics cookies (PostHog) are entirely optional and only run once you accept them. You can change your choice at any time from the cookie preferences link in the footer.

Who we share data with

• Supabase — authentication, database, and (only if you sync) project storage.
• Dodo Payments — billing and subscription management for the Pro plan.
• PostHog — usage analytics, only if you've accepted analytics cookies.

We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone else.

Your rights

You can request a copy of your account data, ask us to delete your account and everything tied to it, or ask a question about any of this, by emailing hello@animatoa.com.

Children

Animatoa isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Keep using Animatoa after a change and that counts as accepting the update.
